FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
The Barbie the Movie (2023) President Barbie Doll (HPK05) is
just simply a gorgeous doll! Yassss! She gives off mid-80s to late-80s Barbie
retro vibes. As I take a good look at her face sculpt, I wonder if they used a
version of Chandra 2014 to create this particular face mold. I will have to do
the research and find out later. The information will be in my full review and buyer’s guide.
I am trying to get better at recognizing the different face molds used for the
doll faces on my own. The outcome of whichever face mold utilized is stunning.
She is a beautiful Barbie and immediately I want this doll!! She does look a little
like Issa Rae which does please me a lot. And, by the way, I do love Issa Rae.
I remember seeing her in a Netflix movie one day and found her to be so funny.
When I heard she was a part of this movie along with Margot Robbie and America
Ferrera, I knew that they had casted right and gave us a strong cast of actors.
I also love that it was Issa that suggested that her Barbie would wear the
opulent gown that she wears in the movie and her doll wears as well!! I am glad
that the actress had creative input and also cared to voice her opinion because
she is so witty and talent! The pink and gold gown visually just works for me!
It reminds me of the jewel secret doll back in the 80s that I had growing up as
well as the peaches and cream doll that I never had growing up. Regarding her articulation,
she has made to move elbows and we can't see anything else from the pictures.
This is all a bit confusing as to why all of the dolls have different
articulation levels. Again, does this go back to the storyline? For photography
purposes, I prefer everyday living photos, so I really don't have very many
ideas for photography sessions with her gown that was meant for the stage and a
pageant. Perhaps an after event where she is strolling indoors somewhere like a
shopping area or getting a coffee at a cafe? That might be quirky but
cool.
