FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
The Barbie the Movie (2023) Ken
Doll Pastel Beach Set (HPJ97) is an interesting doll to think about and
consider for purchasing. In my mind, I continue to vacillate in my thoughts
about whether it is a solid bargain or not. Since I began reviewing these dolls
after receiving them in the mail, I finally came to the conclusion that exact
resemblances are not going to happen with the doll faces of their respective
live counterparts from the movie. I think I wish (and we all wish) but it is
just not going to happen this time or for now. Like the other two dolls and
their respective human lookalikes, he shares a nice resemblance with Ryan
Gosling but not an incredibly close one which is fine for the reasonable price
that you can get him for. He is half the price of the other dolls in wave one
so technically you can't really expect a lot. His face is handsome, and I do
appreciate his big blue eyes and cheerful wide smile. He actually has rooted
hair! Finally, after all this time, it is the return of the Ken dolls with
hair! I am loving his beach attire. It is a pair of beach shorts with matching
trunks and white sneakers. He also comes with a baby blue surfboard that is
functional. His feet can fit and be secured to the surfboard, and you can use
it to help pose him and keep him up right without falling over! There are many
perfect days at the beach photo sessions that you can set up starring this Ken
doll. As for his articulation, it is relatively the same as the Margot Robbie
Barbie doll that has 12 points of articulation. I have the same level of
curiosity regarding the lack of articulation with the main Barbie and Ken doll
in this collection. As previously stated, it must have something to do with the
storyline in the movie. It feels like a long wait until July 21st to find out!
