DOLL/PLAYSET PARTICULARS AND THOUGHTS:
The Barbie the Movie (2023) Perfect
Day Barbie Doll (HPJ96) is here for online ordering and
also in stores for purchase. As mentioned in my first impressions article, she
is very pretty in person. If you want her for your collection, get her soon as
you can! She is most certainly a bargain at the retail value she is priced at
($24.99). However, as compared to the Barbie Extra dolls, you will not get more
accessories, you will get less. The true value is the new Margot Robbie face
sculpt and the details to the outfit and accessories that she comes with. As
previously mentioned, her face sculpt does resemble Margot Robbie's face but is
not an exact match and it is a caricature style of face sculpting. If you can
get over that, you will more than likely love this doll. I think the real issue
is not so much her face sculpt but her bangs for two reasons: the blunt bangs
do not perfectly match Margot Robbie's hairstyle in the movie and the blunt
bangs cover up way too much of her face. When you look at the Western doll and
the other Margot Robbie Barbie dolls in this series of dolls, you'll see that
she looks different and quite lovely without the bangs. Her face paint is so natural,
and I love her wide and toothy smile! It warms my heart completely!
Another point to bring up is that she and none of the other versions of Margot
Robbie's Barbie dolls in wave 1 has made to move articulation. She has the old 12-point
fashionista articulation with high heeled feet. There are pros and cons to this
type of lesser articulation. One major pro that comes to mind is fashionista
bodies look aesthetically pleasing as the made to move dolls can look less than
realistic particularly at the knees, legs, and ankles. However, a major con is
the fashionista bodies don't have enough flexibility to pull off the important
poses that count in doll photography. For example, we would all like Barbie to
be able to hold a phone to her ear instead of her forehead or to be able to sit
in a chair with bent knees and look a bit more natural. However, even with 12
points of articulation, she still has over 100 poses she can do. And without
articulation of the ankles, there is a chance when posed right with shoes on,
she will be able to stand on her own for photography purposes.
Her clothes and accessories are so beautiful and girly! I love her white and
baby pink jewelry with the flower design! No satin finish on her dress but then
again, she is not made for the black label; she is just a Barbie doll for the
Barbie Signature line only.
Never mind this doll and the needs of the other dolls in my collection! As a
grown adult, I need this dress in my life now! My big question is who is going
to design this dress as a Halloween costume and/or as an actual dress to run
around town in. I am ready for this look and Barbiecore to be a thing again
this summer! Look, the dress will photograph well on any doll, just ensure you
have good lighting, and your settings are tight, so you don't have blurring
going on but let's be real here. Who doesn't want to own this dress in real
life to pretend to have a Prefect Barbie Day? I know I do!

MY DOLL/PLAYSET FROM AMAZON:
My Perfect Day Barbie Doll
Barbie The Movie 2023 (HPJ96) was purchased at the same time as quite a few of
my other Barbie The Movie doll/playset collectibles on June 2nd, 2023. Two-day
shipping was selected, however, it was processed and delivered to me on June
6th. This doll was packaged and shipped inside of an Amazon box along with the
Barbie the Movie 2023 Hot Wheels RC Barbie Corvette Car (HPW40). I ordered a
total of six dolls/playsets from Amazon, and they arrived packaged differently
for shipment. I suspect that Amazon got over flooded with orders and wanted
them out of inventory as soon as possible.
In person while taking a closer look, here is what I noticed
about her: Her dress is made of polyester and the pink and white gingham
pattern is printed. While I am a little disappointed that this material isn't
made out of cotton, the polyester does not feel or look cheap. The quality
isn't top end Barbie Signature, but it isn't cheap play line either. The dress
has Velcro closure on the back. Her stilettos shoes are cute but keep the clear
rubber bands that she comes with to help with keeping her shoes secure on her
feet! They will fall off otherwise. The heels are weak and are prone to
bending. Place no pressure on them, they feel fragile too.
The ribbon on top of her head has been attached to her head
using the plastic tags for attaching the dolls head to their store box
packaging when purchased new. I kid you not. I have seen doll collectors and
customizers decide to use a brand-new ribbon and tie it around her hair the
traditional way after fixing the box hair she has straight from her box. I do
still believe that the quality of the doll at the price advertised is a great
purchase. She is still quite lovely in person and is now one of my favorite
versions of Barbie Millicent Roberts dolls.
PRICING
This Perfect Day Barbie Doll
Barbie The Movie 2023 (HPJ96) is currently being sold online at Mattel
Creations, Walmart, Amazon, and Target. Depending upon the
store, the price ranges from $24.97 to $25.00 before tax and shipping and
handling. Because at $25.00 she is so affordable, she sells out quickly at some
of the online stores. She will also appear on online auction too as well like eBay,
but the prices are sometimes twice and triple the current retail value. They
are now being sold in stores too. I went to my local Target and was able to
purchase another one of this doll for my daughter and two other Barbie The
Movie 2023 dolls at this location. If you need it now or it is not for sale in
your area, then please purchase wisely.
I will update in the future with further details as more information becomes
available to me.
Also please keep in mind that this doll is one of two value dolls that is half
the price of the other dolls going for $50 each. The other being the Ken
Pastel Beach Set Doll Barbie The Movie 2023
HPJ97. This will make a world of a difference in
selecting dolls for your collection. If you are on a strict budget, getting
this doll and the Ken doll counterpart will garner you 2 dolls for the price of
one movie doll collectible. Not bad, huh?
